Actor Mohanlal’s mother Santkumari passed away on Tuesday due to age-related ailments. Actor Kamal Haasan expressed his condolences to Mohanlal after his mother’s death.
Haasan wrote in his X post, “Brother @MohanLal only you can console yourself. Friends will stand with you as always. No amount of consolation can compensate for such a loss. Take care, we all love you…Kamal Haasan (sic).”

Santhakumari died on Tuesday at the age of 90 at her home in Elamakkara, Kochi. According to family sources, she was undergoing treatment for age-related health problems for some time. The funeral arrangements are expected to take place in Kochi in the presence of close relatives. More information regarding the funeral is still awaited.
Santhakumari stayed at Mohanlal’s house and remained under his devoted care even during his illness. Despite his heavy professional commitments, the actor was always known to make time for his mother, underlining their deep bond. Mohanlal lost his father Vishwanathan Nair in 2005 and his elder brother Pyarelal in 2000.
Battling age-related health problems, Santkumari’s condition witnessed a gradual decline, requiring frequent and careful medical care. The family remained a source of unwavering support during his illness.
Mohanlal had earlier expressed his gratitude for being able to celebrate his achievements with his mother. Recently, Mohanlal said that it was a privilege to share the Dadasaheb Phalke Award with his mother, adding that the first person he went to meet after learning about the award was his mother.
On the work front, Mohanlal was last seen in the fantasy action-drama Vrishabha (2025) directed by Nand Kishore.
The actor will next be seen in Jeethu Joseph’s Drishyam 3 (2026) and Mahesh Narayanan’s Patriot (2026).
