Kamal Haasan, Ayushmann invited to join the academy for Oscar voting from 534 people
Indian actor Kamal Haasan, Ayushman Khurrana, filmmaker Payal Kapadia, singer-acting Ariana Grande and 531 people from all over the world have been invited to join the academy. On accepting, members will be able to cast their votes for the Oscars.

Actor Kamal Haasan and Ayushman Khurrana will represent India in new invitations at the academy this year. On accepting the invitation, they will be able to vote for Oscar-namine films. On 26 June, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the list of invitations, including names such as Gilian Anderson, Ariana Grande, Sebastian Stan, Jeremy Strong and Jason Momoa.
Kamal Haasan and Ayushman Khurrana, filmmaker Payal Kapadia, documentary filmmaker Smriti Mundra, costume designer Maxima Basu, cinematographer Ranbir Das and casting director Ranbir Das are other representatives of India in this year’s list.

Academy CEO Bill Kreer and Academy President Janet Yang issued a statement that expressed his happiness in inviting the new class.
“We are thrilled to invite this respected class of artists, technologists and professionals to join the academy. Through filmmaking and more and more film industry, through their commitment to the film industry, these extraordinary talented persons have contributed indelible to our global film production community,” said the pair.

The academy invited actors, directors, technicians and manufacturers among 19 other branches, who are selected on the basis of professional qualifications. This year, 41 percent of the 534 people who have been invited are women, 45 percent from younger communities and 55 percent from 60 countries and regions outside the United States.
Currently, the global membership of the academy is more than 10,500. With the new section of the invitation, the number will cross 11,000.
The Oscar will be hosted by Conan O’Brien on 15 March 2026. The nomination process and voting will take place between January 12 and January 16. After the consideration, the final list of candidates will be announced on 22 January.
