Kalki 2898 AD is a futuristic mythological sci-fi film directed by Nag Ashwin. The film stars a great cast including Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani, Brahmanandam, Pasupathi and others.
Kalki is said to be the prophecy of the end of times with the arrival of Kalki, the final incarnation of Lord Vishnu, in 2898 AD. Set in 2898 AD, the story of this Prabhas starrer revolves around a world that has collapsed into a dystopian setting where Kashi has become the last city. While people are struggling to survive in these terrible times, a totalitarian government is running the world under the tyranny of the Supreme Yaskin.
However, things take a new turn for the world when a new ray of hope emerges in the form of an unborn child. This child is said to be the harbinger of a better world. Ashwatthama vows to protect the child from any harm, but the tyrant is intent on preventing this, and his government hires Bhairava, a highly successful bounty hunter.
In the rest of Kalki (2898 AD), stories from the mythological and science-fiction world will be explored, which will hold the secrets of what the new form of the world will be like.
The trailer reveals that Amitabh Bachchan will be seen as Ashwathama, while Kamal Haasan will be seen in an unrecognizable but deadly avatar as Yaskin. Prabhas is seen playing the role of Bhairava along with Bujji, Deepika Padukone is playing the role of Sumati, and Disha Patani is seen as Roxy.
The film will release exclusively in theatres on June 27, 2024 in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.
