Kalamkaval, starring Mammootty and Vinayakan in the lead roles, was released in theaters on December 5, 2025. As the film is set to cross the four-week mark at the box office, an OTT giant has announced its streaming details.

Kalamkaval is about to start streaming on OTT platform SonyLIV. Although the official streaming date has not been announced yet, the team has confirmed that the film will hit the platform in January 2026.
The update was shared by SonyLIV through its social media handles. Sharing the announcement, the team wrote, “The legend returns, dark and deadly. Mammootty in a performance that will take your breath away. The biggest blockbuster of the season, #Kalamkaval is streaming this January only on Sony Liv!”

Kalamkaval is set in the early 2000s, where a group of police officers are assigned to investigate a missing person’s case in a border village between Kerala and Tamil Nadu. As the Special Investigation Team arrives, public unrest due to conflicting communities and allegations of the victim fleeing create a tense situation for the police.
However, when the group of police officers led by SI Jayakrishnan starts identifying a recurring pattern, things take a drastic turn. Over time, they discover that several women, divorced, widowed or single, have disappeared, with clues pointing to a single man.
Realizing that the missing persons case is only just beginning, Jayakrishnan and his team embark on a cat-and-mouse hunt against the suspect, Stanley Das. Do they succeed in catching him or does he manage to escape justice is the main story.

Debutant Jitin K. Directed by Jose, the film is co-written by him and Jishnu Sreekumar. Produced by Mamukka under the Mammootty Kampani banner, the film has music and background score composed by Mujeeb Majeed.
Faisal Ali handled the cinematography, while Praveen Prabhakar served as editor.
