Earlier, the makers had announced the release date as November 27, 2025, but reports revealed that the film faced delays in finalizing the digital deal, due to which it had to be postponed. Now, it seems like all the deals have been finalized and the film is ready to release in theatres.

Kalamkaval is touted to be a crime thriller starring Mammootty and Vinayakan in the lead roles. The film explores the story of a group of police officers arriving in a remote border village in Kerala.

The officers have been tasked to defuse the tense situation between two warring communities, which has caused much unrest in the area. However, as the police begin their investigation, they discover an even more dangerous and horrific crime involving the same man.

The rest of the story depends on what secrets this man hides, and how serious the revelations become.

There were earlier speculations that the film might be inspired by the real-life crimes of the notorious Cyanide Mohan. However, the makers have rejected these claims.

Apart from the lead pair, Kalamkaval stars Gibin Gopinath, Gayatri Arun, Rajisha Vijayan, Aravind SK, Shruti Ramachandran and many others in lead roles.

Mammootty’s upcoming movies

Mammootty is currently shooting for his next film titled Patriot. Directed by Malik’s Mahesh Narayanan, the espionage action drama features Mohanlal in an extended role, marking his reunion with his on-screen contemporary after several years.

The film also stars Kunchacko Boban, Fahadh Faasil, Nayanthara, Darshana Rajendran and many others in lead roles.

Additionally, reports suggest that the Bazooka actor may soon join hands with veteran director Adoor Gopalakrishnan for a film. However, official confirmation has not been made yet.
