In short
- Kajol says that cinema has changed but ‘DDLJ’ is timeless
- He believes that modern films should reflect contemporary relationships
- His new film ‘Ma’ released on 27 June
Bollywood actor Kajol, who is currently promoting his upcoming film ‘Maa’, believes that while cinema has dramatically turned over years, a timeless love story like ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayange (DDLJ)) still attacks a raga with today’s audience.
Today, in a special chat with India, the actor reflected on the development of storytelling in Hindi films. Kajol shared, “I think those films were very good for that time.
Kajol, who made her acting debut in 1992 with ‘Bekhuri’, believes that today’s cinema needs to reflect modern relationships. He said, “You will create a love story of this day and time and age. You will not create a love story of black and white era. From the black and white era to the 90s so far, we have three different ways to see love and our attitude towards it.”
While she admits that the romance of a classic 90s style may struggle to connect with contemporary sensations, Kajol firmly that a film like ‘DDLJ’ – who re -defined Bollywood romance for the entire generation – will still have its magic.
“I think it would be very difficult to sell a love story from the 90s today and at the age of 90s. But I think ‘DDLJ’ will be very good, still good today,” he said confidently.
Kajol explained, “Because we had great music, a wonderful artist contingent – from Amrishi Puri to Anupam Kher, Farida Jalal – everyone had such clear roles in the film. It was a very well -made film. It was a very well -made film. I don’t know that it would be unprecedented as today, but it will definitely work.”
Kajol’s upcoming film, ‘Ma’, is a mythical horror film directed by Vishal Furia. Its premiere will be in theaters on 27 June.
