Based on true events and a book by Saurabh Shah, Maharaj takes place in 1800s Bombay. It is the story of Karsandas Mulji (played by Khan), a courageous journalist and dedicated social reformer. The story focuses on his confrontation with a high priest or ‘Maharaj’ (played by Jaideep Ahlawat), who is accused of sexually abusing female devotees.

After receiving rave reviews for his performance in Maharaj, Junaid Khan is looking forward to working with the same supporting crew and cast as in the Netflix film.
