JR NTR to assure future options after poor dramatic runs of War 2 | Exclusive
Junior NTR is now rethinking his Bollywood journey after the underperformance of ‘War 2’. The actor is now focusing on Telugu cinema and focusing on strengthening his collective appeal on a major PAN-India project with director Prashant Neil.

Hrithik Roshan and Junior NTR starrer ‘War 2’ has left the industry and surprised the fans. The film was expected to have a roaring success, bringing the two biggest stars of Indian cinema together under the YRF detective universe banner. However, with the audience giving it a mixed response, Junior NTR now seems to re -evaluate its next steps in Bollywood, while focusing its focus on their stronghold, which is Telugu cinema.
Talking about the next moves of Junior NTR, trade analyst Ramesh Bala said, “I think he will have a Telugu film. He has to cooperate with a strong director – either a big Telugu or a Tamil director. He should do a film that has a collective appeal like ‘Pushpa’.”
Sources close to the actor suggest that JR NTR has become more alert about the kind of stories he wants to join together. It is said that the actor is looking at the script that aligns more as a mass star with his personality, while still a strong emotional resonance. Internal sources say, “Pan-India spectacle” is to be balanced with rooted storytelling that connects with the audience across the country.
The source further told India Today, “Junior NTR is taking its time before signing some of its next projects. After ‘RRR’, expectations are at a different level, and ‘War 2’ are not working, they have made them even more conscious that what the audience needs about them. He wants films that bring them back to their masses.”
Meanwhile, the discussion in the industry is that the actor is now attracting more attention with director Prashant Neil, who is known for his upcoming project (temporarily under ‘Dragon’) director Prashant Neil, known for ‘KGF’ franchise. The film has been postponed as one of the most awaited Pan-India Ventures. Commenting on this cooperation, Bala said, “She has a Prashant Neel’s project, a very large. Since Neil is the director of ‘KGF’, it is definitely a prestigious and safe condition. Obviously, no one can predict the result, but the interest around the film will be on a large scale.”
There has also been speculation about whether ‘Devra 2’ – continuation of Kratla Shiva’s ambitious project – will be physical at all. At this, Bala clarified, “As she is being sheltered for ‘Devra 2’, there is no official word. We will learn more at the end of NTR – Neel Project. If he moves forward with another film after ‘Dragon’, it can be ‘Devra 2’.
For JR NTR, who gave a global blockbuster with ‘RRR’, the current moment is decisive. While ‘War 2’ may not have given him the desired Bollywood success, his star power in the south remains intact. Their pairing with Prashant Neil is already seen as the next major cinematic incident in Telugu cinema, one who may potentially re-write the box-office story after ‘War 2’.
The choice of junior NTR from here will not only be important for his career trajectory, but also for his fans, who are waiting to see their star back into action.
