Telugu superstar Jr NTR shared a video message after the last minute cancellation of Devra’s pre-release event on September 22. The event was cancelled due to overcrowding and security issues. Many fans who had gathered inside the hotel were turned away after the team made the difficult decision just hours before the event.

In a video message to his fans, Jr NTR said, “I am very sad that the Devra event has been cancelled, especially because I was looking forward to it. I love spending time with you and sharing many interesting facts about Devra. I was excited to share many details about Devra and the efforts that went into the film. But, due to security reasons, the event could not take place. I share your disappointment. My pain is greater than yours.”

Jr NTR also defended the makers and organisers of the event and said, “In my opinion, it is wrong to blame the makers or organisers for the event getting cancelled.”

The makers also released a statement explaining the reasons behind the last minute cancellation of the film.

Here’s a glimpse of the crowd inside and outside the venue:

The statement said, “The pre-release event was scheduled very close to Ganesha Nimarjanam and such large-scale events usually require at least a week’s preparation. Also, heavy rains in the last few days have posed many challenges. Even though it did not rain today, even if we had planned it, the conditions would not have been conducive for an outdoor event.”

“Despite our best efforts, the heavy rush of fans resulted in the barricades being broken, causing inconvenience. For the safety of everyone, we had to take the tough decision to cancel the event,” the statement said.

The makers also apologised to the fans who had come from different parts of the country to get a glimpse of Jr NTR.

Devara is Jr NTR’s first solo release after six years. Directed by Koratala Siva, the film is set to release on September 27. The filmmaker said the film will release in two parts.
