Malayalam actor Akhil Vishwanath died on December 11, 2025 at the age of 30. According to a report in Manorama Online, the actor reportedly died by suicide and his mother found him dead at their home.
Akhil Vishwanath dies at the age of 30
Akhil Vishwanath was a young actor best known for his role in the Kerala State Award winning film Chola (2019), starring Joju George. According to reports, the actor was found hanging at his residence in Kerala. His mother reportedly found his body when she was about to leave for work in the morning.
Reports suggest that the actor was not getting film roles for quite some time and was working at a mobile repair shop in Kottali in Kannur district. However, he had recently stopped attending work for unknown reasons. Soon after the news of his demise broke, Chola director Sanal Kumar Sasidharan, co-actor Joju George and others expressed grief.
Deeply shocked by his demise, Joju George paid tribute on his official social media handle and shared pictures of the late actor from the shooting and promotional days of the film. Meanwhile, authorities are reportedly investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
Chola, produced by Joju George, is a psychological thriller directed by Sanal Kumar Sasidharan. The film was screened at several international venues including the Venice International Film Festival, Geneva International Film Festival and Tokyo Filmex.
Akhil Vishwanathan’s personal and professional life
Over the years, Akhil Vishwanath has appeared in many films. Apart from Chola, in which she starred alongside Joju George and Nimisha Sajayan, she also starred in director Tharun Murthy’s Operation Java. Early in his career, Akhil and his brother Arun were awarded the Kerala State Government Award for Best Child Artist for their performances in the film Mangandi.
Akhil’s father Vishwanath, is currently undergoing medical treatment after being injured in a motorcycle accident recently.
