Nikhil Nagesh Bhatt’s film ‘Kill’ is going to have a Hollywood remake. American filmmaker Chad Stahelski, who directed all four John Wick films, will remake the film under his production company 87Eleven Entertainment.
A Hollywood remake of the bloody-action drama, ‘Kill’ is being made. It will be remade by American filmmaker Chad Stahelski under his production company 87Eleven Entertainment. He directed all four John Wick films starring Keanu Reeves.
Starring debutant Lakshya Lalwani, actor-choreographer Raghav Juyal and Tanya Maniktala, ‘Kill’ is a violent revenge saga. It is written and directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat. It is produced by Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta for Dharma Productions, along with Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain of Sikhya Entertainment. It will release in India on July 5 and in the US on July 4.
Chad Stahelski of 87Eleven Entertainment said, “‘Kill’ is one of the most vibrant, wild and creative action films I’ve seen in recent times.” He added, “Nikhil has delivered some great action sequences that deserve to be seen by as many audiences as possible. Developing an English language version is exciting – we have big responsibilities and I’m looking forward to working with Nikhil, Karan, Apoorva, Guneet and Achin to achieve this.”
The ‘Kill’ remake was announced by Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chairman Adam Fogelson. In a joint statement, the film’s producers called the Hollywood remake of Kill a “huge win for Indian cinema.”
“It has been incredibly satisfying to partner with Lionsgate, the award-winning studio behind genre-defining action films. This announcement before the release of the original film is unprecedented and a huge win for Indian cinema. We are truly honoured,” the statement said.
‘Kill’ had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The synopsis of the film on TIFF’s official website reads, “In Nikhil Nagesh Bhat’s relentless martial arts thriller, a New Delhi-bound passenger train becomes a bloody battlefield as a pair of commandos take on a 40-strong army of invading bandits.”
The film’s lead actor Lakshya Lalwani was originally supposed to debut with the now-cancelled KJo produced film ‘Dostana 2’.
