Filmmaker John M. Chu has discontinued the rumors of casting for its potential Britney Spears biopic, stating that the film is still in the stages of development.
Rumors recently suggested that pop singer Eriana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter, and Strenger Things Milli Bobby Brown were competing for the title role – some refused to punish.
On going on social media, the director of the wicked said that no casting negotiations had taken place. He reported that rumors seem thrilling, but production is far from that point.
In response to a post that Grande, Carpenter, and Brown Pop are battling for the role of princess, Chu wrote on X, “None of this is true.”
He further said, “It seems exciting, but there is not a conversation about casting this film yet. We are very early in development. Sorry.”
The Universal Pictures is behind the Biopic of Spears, directed by Chu, who only collaborated with the award -winning music film evil with Grande.
The studio bought the rights of Spears’ best -selling memoirs the Woman in Me, which sold 2.5 million copies in the US, to discover the life of a music icon in a film and to search for her journey in superstardom.
Although the story direction of the biopic is still not certain, fans are already guessing who can play pop icons, favorite contender Ariana Grande, Sabarina Carpenter and Milli Bobby Brown. However, Chu has rejected such speculation.
Chu had earlier talked about what the biopic is meant in an interview with the Hollywood reporter in November last year. She said, “She represents a generation of older people in the 2000s and in the late 90s, and she has a story that is worthy of being told properly. There is a lot about us.”
At that time, he revealed that he had not written the script yet or was also a writer on the board. Chu said, “But in this initial concept, I think it’s so much how we treat people, youth, stars, which we think we think ourselves, women, mothers. There are many things that I would like to find.”
