Jigra director Vasan Bala deletes Twitter account after film’s box office failure
It seems that director Vasan Bala has deactivated his Twitter account after his film Jigra starring Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina failed at the box office.
Director Vasan Bala, whose latest film, Jigra, failed to impress the audience at the box office, seems to have deleted his Twitter(x) account. Till a day ago the filmmaker was sharing posts and replying to comments. However, their responses now appear as empty boxes with the words ‘This post is from an account that no longer exists’ written in its place.
Vasan has been defending the performance of the Alia Bhatt-starrer after several trolls targeted him for glorifying it. During his latest interview with hollywood reporterThe director also said that he does not consider box office as the measure of success of a film. However, his statement was not well received and many social media users called him ‘arrogant’ for not accepting the audience’s decision.
A section of the audience also questioned how Vasan became the face of the film after its box office failure, when Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina were actively promoting it before its release.
The film clashed at the box office with Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video starring Rajkummar Rao and Trupti Dimri. While the Raaj Shandilya directorial also did not taste winning at the ticket window, it managed to outperform Jigra.
The film, backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, collected Rs 25.35 crore nett in nine days in India. In Jigra, Alia played the role of a protective elder sister who helps her brother, played by Vedang, get released from a foreign prison. The film was reportedly made on a budget of Rs 80 crore, and now it seems unlikely to reach break-even at the box office.
