Marvel actress Jennifer Garner returns to the Marvel Universe in the new film Deadpool and Wolverine. The film stars Elektra’s Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in a stellar performance. Directed by Shawn Levy, the film has many surprises and cameos.
a nod to the past
In one scene, Deadpool (played by Reynolds) sympathizes with fallen Marvel characters. When he calls Daredevil, who was previously played by her ex-husband, Ben Affleck, Garner’s Elektra simply responds with “Oh, that’s fine.” The moment adds to the film’s humor and references her past relationship with Affleck.
a memory of ancient times
In 2003, Garner first appeared in Daredevil as Elektra, Affleck’s counterpart. She then reprised the character in the 2005 stand-alone film Elektra. After nearly two decades, she is back in action. Last summer, it was announced that she would return as Elektra in Deadpool and Wolverine.
Garner shared her thoughts about her time as Elektra during a recent interview. She talked about the problems of wearing tight costumes and undergoing intense martial arts training.
He said, “Every time I had to pee, I had to cut and sew leather pants together.” Still, these were things that didn’t deter him from embracing the physicality the role required.
Garner’s action-packed career
Garner is also known for starring in other action films such as The Kingdom (2007) and Peppermint (2018). However, she wants more opportunities to perform action roles. “I wanted to do some physical roles, but the roles I got weren’t too risky,” she told Entertainment Weekly.
Deadpool and Wolverine are currently playing in theaters, offering audiences a mix of action, humor, and nostalgia. Garner’s return as Elektra is one of the highlights that reminds everyone why she’s still so good at superhero movies.
