Janhvi Kapoor and Adil Hussain recently shared the screen in Ulj, the film has received rave reviews from both fans and critics. Hussain, who has previously worked with Janhvi’s late mother Sridevi, has now shared his experience of being on set with Janhvi and reminiscing about her mother.
In an interview with News 18 in Showsha, Adil shared memories of working with the late Sridevi and revealed how Janhvi effortlessly imagined him as her father, exemplifying her reel connection with her late mother.
When asked if he spoke about the late actress, Aadil said, “It’s difficult for me to remember her. My heart hurts; I can’t even digest or understand that she is no longer with us. I can’t even imagine how much pain Jhanvi must probably still be going through.”
Adil Hussain revealed that his mother had recently passed away at the age of 95 and that is why he did not feel comfortable raising the issue of losing a young mother. Instead, he and Janhvi talked about their last meeting on the sets of English Vinglish.
When Adil Hussain was asked if it is easy for star kids to enter the world of showbiz, he said that while they may have some advantages initially due to their familiarity with the industry, they also have to bear a lot of burden. He said that even though it may be a little easier for them initially than those coming from the margins, they still have to prove themselves.
Adil emphasised that talent and authenticity cannot be faked, as the camera captures every detail, revealing a person’s weaknesses, fears and potential. He said that if someone like Janhvi Kapoor is successful and people love her, it is because she has qualities worth admiring.
Aadil, who plays Jhanvi’s father in the film, was all praise for him and said that working with him was a pleasure and a joy for him. He described their on-screen relationship as warm, cordial and affectionate and said that he didn’t have to pretend to be her father – it felt natural. Aadil said that the experience was beautiful and thanked director Sudhanshu Saria for allowing him to play the role.
