Janhvi Kapoor recalls calling Sridevi a home breaker, says people were not very kind
Janhvi Kapoor recalls the tough times when her mother Sridevi was branded a home breaker, revealing the emotional struggles of her family.

Actress Janhvi Kapoor has opened up about the criticism her mother, Sridevi, faced during her lifetime, recalling how she was labeled a “home breaker” and how such comments took an emotional toll on the late star.

Mother Sridevi could not watch her first film
Janhvi also reflected on the lasting trauma of losing her mother in 2018, just months before her debut heartbeat. He described the loss as “the biggest blow” of his life, which was compounded by the fact that it came into the public eye.
Janhvi reflected on how after her mother’s death she had to quickly mature from being a dependent daughter to making her own decisions amid intense scrutiny and criticism from her family. She admitted that she made mistakes by including certain people in her life who compromised her mental and physical well-being.
Remembering her mother, Janhvi expressed the deep void created by Sridevi’s absence, saying that she has lost not only a parent but also the father figure who was there when her mother was alive. She missed her mother’s humor and the way she shaped their family.
When asked what her mother would think about her now, Janhvi said that she has changed and has developed different opinions from her mother’s. He acknowledged that talks between them today would be uncertain.
Janhvi also shared a message that she would tell Sridevi if given a chance, expressing her understanding and regret for not appreciating her mother’s struggles. He said that Sridevi started acting at a very young age but she chose to share only happy stories with her children.
Janhvi recalled an old interview of her mother, where Sridevi had talked about her weakness and struggle to be taken seriously in the early years of her Hindi film career. Recalling that period, Janhvi said, “I have seen that journey. People were not very kind when she was around. They called her a home breaker and all those cruel things. It kept playing in her mind and made her feel a certain way, but history is kind to those who have passed away.”
Janhvi’s father Boney Kapoor was married to Mona Kapoor and had two children – Arjun and Anshula Kapoor before marrying Sridevi. Boney and Sridevi together raised Janhvi and her sister Khushi Kapoor.
