Jan Nayakan Overseas Advance Booking: Thalapathy Vijay’s last film takes a good jump, collects US$5 million over the weekend

Thalapathy Vijay’s last film, Jana Nayagan, is set for release this weekend. Advance booking of the film is going on in full swing and the reports are also excellent. Here’s how the film is performing in its pre-sales so far.

As of 7 January, Jana Nayagan received an advance of approximately US$5.25 million (₹47 crore) for its opening weekend in overseas markets. Of which an advance of US$4 million was recorded for the opening day alone.

Tremendous advance bookings of this film starring Thalapathy Vijay are being seen. In major Tamil markets like Malaysia and Europe, Jana Nayagan is recording one of the best, if not the best, progress ever for not only Tamil but Indian films. It grossed US$1.1 million in Malaysia, US$1 million in Europe, and over US$700K in the United Kingdom. In the United States, where the Telugu diaspora is the main driver, the film is outsold by the Prabhas starrer The Raja Saab, which premiered on the same day.

Talking about its US pre-sales, it grossed approximately US$580,000 by selling 28,000 tickets across approximately 850 shows at 362 venues. Total pre-sales for the premiere show in North America, including Canada, have reached US$820,000. With still two days to go, Jana Nyagan is on track to cross the US$1 million mark in pre-sales for the premiere show alone very soon. The film has grossed US$1.1 million on its first day including the premiere.

Jan Nayakan’s total worldwide pre-sales exceed Rs. 60 crore figure, however, there are clouds hanging over its release as the film is yet to get censored by the Censor Board of Film Certification in India.

The political action drama also stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamita Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narayan, Priyamani, Sunil and many others in lead roles.
