James Cameron offers to film second unit shots for SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi
James Cameron, in a virtual conversation with SS Rajamouli, expressed his interest in becoming the second unit director on the sets of his film ‘Varanasi’. Rajamouli recently reviewed Cameron’s ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’.

SS Rajamouli recently joined James Cameron virtually to promote his upcoming film. Avatar: Fire and AshesDuring the conversation, Cameron not only expressed keen interest in Rajamouli’s ambitious film, Varanasi – which stars Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran – but was also unexpectedly offered to shoot some scenes for the project.

Avatar: Fire and Ashes The director said, “I’ll have you. I’ll come to your set. You can lend me a camera. I love working. I can take some shots for you, maybe some second unit.”
Expressing gratitude to Rajamouli for promotion Avatar: Fire and AshesDespite his busy schedule, Cameron said, “I know you must be very busy in Varanasi right now. If I can provide feedback when your new film is coming out, please keep me in mind. I love interacting with other filmmakers. I think we need more of that.”
In his conversation with Cameron Varanasi The director reviewed the upcoming science fiction film and highlighted, “Fire and Ash was an absolute joy to watch. Hats off to you for creating those complex sequences, scenes and characters. I could go on. I was like a kid in the theater watching the Wind Traders, the Ash People, the new characters. Varang was absolutely amazing.”
Cameroonian Avatar: Fire and Ashes Set for theatrical release on December 19, 2025. This is the sequel to Avatar (2009) and Avatar: The Path of Water (2022).
