Jameela Jamil is getting her relationship with the holidays right by correcting unrealistic body standards

Jameela “stopped being afraid of swimsuits, photos and delicious holiday food”
For most people, the holidays are a two-week period of the year that they look forward to and spend in the sun and on the sand with a cocktail in hand. As wonderful as that may be, not everyone has happy memories of their holidays. Jameela Jamil is one of them. The Hollywood actress shared on Instagram that her memories of holidays in the past have always been tainted. However, she aimed to break those old memories on her recent vacation to Europe.

The actress posted a number of photos, most of which showed her eating pizza, croissants and sundaes. Her caption detailed how she spent most of her life dreading holidays and everything that came with them; specifically, photos in swimsuits and the extravagant greasy food. During her trips, Jameela said she constantly felt “stress and pressure to look thin”. It was to the point that she would keep a weighing machine in her suitcase on holidays and eat watermelon instead of pizza for lunch. She also said she would avoid being in group photos for fear of ruining her picture because of her bruised hands or double chin.

Jameela is now fixing her relationship with holidays. When the zipper of her dress broke during her recent vacation in Europe, she called it a “sign of privilege and pride”. The actress sat at the buffet and enjoyed her delicacies “without any fear, without any guilt, without any sense of responsibility to keep herself afloat”. Most importantly, she recorded her culinary journey for weeks and did not delete a single photo.

Miss Jamil concludes by saying that her post is not meant to badmouth people who follow a healthy diet and exercise routine over the holidays. It is simply a way to unlearn your past patterns and create new healthy patterns for yourself now. She ends by saying, "This is just a post to implore you to eat the food you like, and let go of control, and not lose the memories", which is absolutely true.
