Vijay Sethupathi will do a cameo in Jailer 2
Currently, all eyes are on Nelson Dilipkumar’s upcoming film, Jailer 2. Rajinikanth returns, reprising his role of Jailer from the 2023 hit film, in the Tamil-language action comedy. While the audience is excited to see the superstar create his magic on the big screen, many veterans are also playing special roles in the film. These include Kollywood hero Vijay Sethupathi.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, the Vikram Vedha star confirmed being a part of the multi-starrer film. Vijay said that he has decided not to play villain roles or do cameos in films. But he made this exception for Rajinikanth.
Confirming the same, Vijay said, “I have done a cameo in Jailer 2 because I love Rajinikanth sir. I get to learn a lot by being with him. Superstars have lasted in this industry for decades. There is a lot to learn.”
In the same interview, Sethupathi revealed why he has decided not to play a villain on screen. Apparently, he has to be subjected to a lot of emotional blackmail by the filmmakers, and it impacts the business of the films he is doing as a hero. “Now I’m playing a villain just for the sake of the script, which excites me,” the star underlined.
Vijay also said that all the scripts he listened to for playing the role of a villain were written keeping in mind a regular rival promoting a hero. Since he is normal and there is nothing extraordinary in him, he has refused to do such roles.
Talking about Jailer 2, the film also stars Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakraborty, SJ Surya, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu and other actors. Apart from this, actors like Mohanlal, Shiv Rajkumar and Vinayakan will also be seen playing special roles. As of now, this mass entertainer film is expected to release on the big screens on June 12, 2026.
