Jacob Eleordy Justin Kurzel-directed series The narrow road to the deep North is set to dive deeply in a serious role. On Saturday 15 February at the Berlin Film Festival press conference, the Euphoria actor revealed that his character in the series is the prisoner of war.
To portray the character authentically, Alfi had to embrace its shabby and weak physicality, leaving her weight. The actor remembered the process as a “really quiet experience” because he does it with his fellow costors, which he lovingly calls “leads”.
The Saltburn actor said in detail that through shared experience, he and his lead felt peace and helped him reach a level of love that was normally beyond. Being “snatched” from everything helped them connect at the human level.
Their biggest concern was asking each other about their goodness and offering jelly. “I think something was quite deep that happened, it was not torture,” he said. Alfardi expressed his gratitude for being able to share experiences with his friends.
The series is based on the Booker Award winning novel named after Richard Flangan. The story revolves around the Japanese prisoner of a medical officer and war Durgo Evans, who is forced to work on the Thai-Burma Railway.
The hero is constantly haunted by the memories of his past, especially of the time when he had a connection with his uncle’s wife Amy. According to the official synopsis, the series shows the journey of Evans for decades, which will “be a soldier for a prisoner to bring back the war hero, for the surgeon and untouchable celebrity.”
Alfardi earned its breakout role in the hit HBO series Euphoria. He kept his star quotient high by acting in the controversial but acclaimed show Saltburn, playing the role of Elvis Presley in Sophia Copla’s Prisla and acting in Netflix’s Kissing Booth Film Series among many other things.
