Jack Black says rejecting The Incredibles is the biggest regret of his career
Actor Jack Black has said that he regrets turning down ‘The Incredibles’ (2004), calling it one of his favorite films. He will next be seen in ‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ (2026).

Actor Jack Black admits he turned down director Brad Bird’s superhero-animated film Incredible (2004) is the biggest regret of his acting career. He recalled that he was given a chance to voice the villain role, Syndrome, in the film, but he did not take the chance because he had never heard the name of the director and wanted to rewrite the script.
Jack, during an interview with Capital FMcalled Incredible One of his favorite films. He said, “I was offered and I regret that I didn’t say I was offered that wonderful film Syndrome Incredible – By the way, one of my all-time favourites.
“And I said no because I said, ‘Uh, (director) Brad Bird? Never heard of him!’ (I told him), ‘This character that you are presenting me is like a villain, but he is one-dimensional. I’m interested but would like to see a rewrite. Will you add some dimension to this character? And he was like, ‘Yeah, you’re done,'” the actor continued.
Jack insisted, “I learned a valuable lesson because when that movie came out, it was one of the best movies ever made. I thought, ‘Why was I being so hard?'”
Actor Jason Lee, best known for his lead role in the American science-fiction series my name is Earl (2005–2009), later did voiceover for the character Syndrome IncredibleThe Pixar film took home the Oscar for Best Animated Feature and quickly became one of the studio’s most memorable original works, follow up, Incredible 2Launched in 2018 and brought in $1.2 billion globally. The third installment of the film series is currently in development.

Jack will next be seen in the sequel of the film. super mario galaxy movie (2026), set for theatrical release on April 3, 2026.
