"It’s time for Joe to go": Former White House photographer urges Biden to withdraw from election

Must read

After the debate on Thursday night, political analysts and several US media organisations are calling for US President Joe Biden to drop out of the 2024 race. Now, the former White House Deputy Director of Photography under the Biden administration has also joined the growing demand.

“It’s time for Joe to go,” Chandler West wrote in an Instagram Story following the argument. Axios informed of.

“I know many of these people and know how the White House works. They’ll say he has a ‘cold’ or just had a ‘bad night,’ but for weeks and months, privately, they’ve all been saying exactly what we saw last night — which is not as strong as it was a few years ago. The debate wasn’t the first bad day … it’s not going to be the last,” Mr. West wrote.

He further claimed that White House aides knew for months that Joe Biden’s mental health was deteriorating, but it was concealed before the debate.

Multiple unnamed current and former aides to Biden told Axios that the president is most mentally engaged between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., but outside of this time frame, he is more prone to verbal lapses and fatigue.

Notably, President Biden’s age is a particular concern for voters and some Democrats have called on him to step down for a new candidate. Despite weak poll numbers and questions about his age, he is sticking to his plan to seek a second term.

However, the 81-year-old president’s disastrous performance in the presidential debate on June 27 has again raised calls for his removal from office. Biden, who is often seen stumbling and stuttering during public events, lost his sense of direction while responding to a question posed by a CNN anchor on the economy. The Democrat made another blunder while responding to a question about voters feeling “worse” under his presidency.

If Joe Biden withdraws his name, the delegates from the 50 states will have to look for a new person as soon as possible. Vice President Kamala Harris, California Governor Gavin Newsom, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro are among the names who could represent the party.
