Kim Kardashian has been battling psoriasis for several years now. The fashion icon and diva is extremely conscious about her look and when something happens on fashion’s biggest night, it’s a stressful situation. In a recent interview with SHE MD, Kardashian opened up about the time when psoriasis flared up on her face during the Met Gala.
In 2022, Kim Kardashian had a bout of psoriasis. That year, she wore the infamous Marilyn Monroe dress. Talking about her 2022 Met Gala, she said that she remembers she had a spot under her eye that burned. Meanwhile, she also revealed that she also had psoriatic arthritis that year, in which she couldn’t move her hands.
Kim Kardashian opens up about her psoriasis outbreak
Kim Kardashian’s Met Gala appearances are usually notable, but one evening is notable due to a severe psoriasis outbreak on her face. The Skims founder shared with SHE MD podcast presenters Mary Alice Haney and Dr. Thais Aliabadi that she experiences itching on only one side of her face. And when it happens, it itches like crazy.
Kardashian has been open about her battle with psoriasis. “When I started getting a little depressed, it started covering my face, and there was one spot really close to my eye, and it would just burn a little bit. I remember I had the Met Ball coming up that week, and it covered my face.”
Henney then asked her if it was stress-related, to which the Kardashian star replied that she had a lot going on in her mind at the time. Meanwhile, the National Institutes of Health defines psoriasis as a chronic disease in which the immune system becomes overactive, causing skin cells to grow too quickly, resulting in scaly, inflamed patches on the skin.
Kim Kardashian once revealed that she suffered from psoriatic arthritis
Kim Kardashian previously said she not only had psoriasis but also psoriatic arthritis while preparing for her appearance at the 2022 Met Gala. To the universe, Kardashian wore the iconic Marilyn Monroe dress to the Met Gala that year.
Talking about her diagnosis in an interview with Allure, she said, “The psoriasis spread throughout my body, and I developed psoriatic arthritis, so I couldn’t really move my hands. I had to see a rheumatologist, who put me on steroids. I was terrified. I had the flesh removed again, and it’s calmed down.”
At the same time, she had recently completed her acrimonious divorce from Kanye West. Kanye West was also embroiled in a public feud with Kardashian’s then-boyfriend Pete Davidson.
