Rami Malek recalls one of the cruelest incidents that happened to him at the Los Angeles airport. The actor sat down for an interview with the Guardian and revealed that he was racially abused for being of Middle Eastern descent.
The actor shared that he was thrown in front of a police car, and officers told him that his profile matched that of a person who had stolen alcohol and a handbag. Malek claimed that the car’s engine was so hot that it almost burned his hand while lying on it.
Sharing details of the incident, the Bohemian Rhapsody star explained, “I remember how hot that engine was – they’d be racing in there, and it was almost burning my hands.” He continued, “I remember laughing in the police car, thinking, ‘Well, this is a very precarious situation. I might be going to jail for something I didn’t do. Is.'”
Malek further said that traveling is a difficult task for them, as airport officials often doubt their identity because of the name on their documents. However, the actor’s fame often comes to the rescue.
The Little Things star said, “I started thinking, ‘What’s going on?’ These days, whenever I tried to enter any country, a moment like this came.” He added, “Then they’ll go, ‘No, he’s the guy from Bohemian Rhapsody. Let him go.’

I’ve been called ‘white passing’, but I have very specific characteristics, and we definitely don’t fit in.
Although Malek has worked in the industry for nearly two decades, he claims he still feels like an outsider.
