Bowen Yang has made a big name for herself by acting in films and being a part of Saturday Night Live. However, there appears to be another side to this famous life.
Recently, while opening up about her frustrations on the podcast Las Culturistas, she shared some details about her personal life during a conversation with co-host Matt Rogers.
Each host talked about a topic in the “I Don’t Think So, Honey” segment, when the Monkey King actor recalled his experience with TikTok, saying, “I log on and I have 20 notifications from someone who Who thinks they’re being cute
After this he said that people tag him and say, ‘Oh my God. ‘This guy looks exactly like Bowen Yang.’ It’s an Asian guy.”
Elaborating on the video clip or social media post, Bowen Yang noted that the tags are either of an Asian person or “little Asian kids, like a little elephant dancing in a costume.”
Speaking further during the segment on his show, Yang said that he had already seen those videos multiple times, asking his followers to stop tagging him going forward.
“No thanks. It makes me not want to use the platform anymore,” Bowen Yang said, talking about the repeating tags.
Bowen Yang has been hosting the highly acclaimed podcast Las Culturistas since 2016. Known for his sharp wit and comedic insight, Yang initially gained recognition through his guest roles on popular series such as Broad City and High Maintenance.
However, his career took a huge leap when he was recruited as a writer for Saturday Night Live in 2018. This milestone not only showcased his talent, but also paved the way for him to become the show’s first Chinese-American cast member. This is an important achievement in his career.
Recently, Bowen Yang appeared in the highly anticipated musical drama WickedWhere she played the character of Puffani. Directed by Jon M. Chu, the film stars a stellar cast, including Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, Ariana Grande as Glinda, Jeff Goldblum as The Wizard of Oz, and Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible.
