IT fresher criticizes WITCH companies for job interview delays and nervousness
An Indian IT fresher recently shared his story on Reddit. The individual claimed that on two separate occasions, he was made to wait for a job interview by two “WITCH” IT companies. WITCH stands for Wipro, Infosys, TCS, Cognizant and HCL.

Job interview is the first step in the career for any fresher. After years of hard work, you are finally ready to begin your professional journey. But what if the interviewer ghosts you? Or does the call get rescheduled without giving you any prior notice? An IT graduate in 2025 faced such a situation which he described on Reddit.
The student, who is from a Tier 3 Indian college, was unhappy with his experience in two different job interviews at WITCH companies – Wipro and HCL, both. WITCH generally refers to 5 IT companies – Wipro, Infosys, TCS, Cognizant and HCL.
User who goes by the online persona u/not_so_retard posted on the subreddit r/DevelopersIndia. According to the person, Wipro had scheduled the interview for 11 am. However, the call took place only at 7 pm that day.
Moreover, the fresher found itself in a similar situation to HCLTech. The user claimed they “sat in front of a screen all day on Microsoft Teams.” But the company did not give any update regarding rescheduling of the interview.

Newcomers rush from hospital to find yet another delay
It seems things got even worse for the newcomers. The person gave an update on the post. The user actually ran away from the hospital this time, only to find another delay. He further said, “My father was in the hospital, I did all the procedures there and ran home only to find out that the interview has been canceled for today.”

User claims such delays in interviews have become common
What made the man angry was not only the way the two interviews were delayed, but the way his batchmates reacted to the situation. The fresher wrote, “And the worst part? People have made it normal!! My fellow fresher friends said, ‘It was normal, these big MNCs don’t care about our deadlines.'”
Redditors want newcomers to drop calls in case of delays
Many users commented on the post. Many believed that if the interviewer did not arrive on time without prior notice, it would be better to move on and do something else. One user commented, “If the panel doesn’t join within 10 minutes… drop the call and tell HR the panel hasn’t joined.” Another user commented, “Walkout whenever your time is not respected, you do not sign a contract to attend an interview at any cost.”
