Actor Ishaan Khatter recently shared a candid reflection on his living conditions over the past decade, revealing that he spent 10 years in an apartment bought by his elder brother, actor Shahid Kapoor.

Located in Cozy Apartments on Yari Road in Mumbai, the apartment was home to Ishaan and his mother Neelima Azeem. The Dirty MagazineIshaan spoke about how space started to feel limited during the lockdown, especially with multiple people and two cats living in his small Mumbai apartment.

“When I was 16, we moved into this cozy apartment on Yari Road that my brother bought for us. My mother and I lived there for 10 years,” Ishaan said. Reflecting on the challenges of living in the place during the pandemic lockdown, he added, “It started to feel like a cage to me. There was my mother, me, two other seniors and two cats. Maybe that’s why when I came here and saw the sea, I thought, ‘This is all I want.'”

The actor, who is now living on his own for the first time, spoke about the transformative journey of moving out of a familiar place. “It’s been two years now. I have moved houses 17 times; this is the 18th house I’m living in. But this is my first time living alone,” he said. Ishaan described his newfound connection with his current home by the sea as symbolising a sense of freedom after feeling restricted in his previous living situations.

Ishaan opened up about his upbringing and the misconceptions people often have about him growing up in a family of actors. “I was never unhappy or anything like that, and I don’t like to talk about it, but I have seen my share. Abundance was not something I saw recently, contrary to what people might imagine. And there are a lot of fantasies out there,” he remarked.
