Is silver ready to play catch-up?

MUMBAI: As Gold extends its record breaking run, bullion investors are more interested in its cheap investment alternative, silver weight. This is because a key ratio that compares the price of gold and silver indicates that the latter now gives more value. Investors who want to bet on silver may consider their exchange trade funds (ETFs).

“The silver-to-gold ratio is currently at its all-time low level,” said Sahil Kapoor, head of DSP Mutual Fund products and market strategist. Its all-time high is 0.06.

The ratio shows that cheap or expensive silver is compared to gold.

On average, it takes a silver time of 60 to 70 ounce tunes to equal the value of an ounce of gold. Currently, it will take 90 Ounce tuna silver time to buy an ounce of gold.

Analysts said this indicates the possibility of catching silver prices.

“After a recent sharp run-up in gold prices, there is more safety in buying silver in the short term,” Kapoor said.

During this period, silver returned closer to 37% compared to 54% of gold in the terms of the Dollar Lord. Gold prices reached the highest level of 92,947.11 per Oouns on Wednesday, maintaining its boom, as its reputation as a safe shelter has gained more traction on concerns about inflationing US President Donald Trump’s tariff policies.

Silver can also rally a sharp rally due to increased industrial dysfunction.

“There is more scope for additional benefits in silver in the near term, and investors can gather on any fall,” says Manav Modi, a bullion analyst of Motilal Oswal Financial Services.

Modi’s next year is a target of 1.1 lakh to 1.1 lakh to ₹ 1.25 lakh on silver, translating an average of 20% on metal. Although the returns from silver are high, analysts are careful about retail investors. Ramaswamy points out that silver is 2.5 times higher than gold.
