Is Sai Pallavi replacing Deepika Padukone as SUM-80 in Kalki 2? Makers clarified
The makers of Kalki 2898 AD 2 have addressed the speculations about Sai Pallavi replacing Deepika Padukone in the film. The film also stars Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan in lead roles.

Anticipation for director Nag Ashwin’s follow-up to his sci-fi epic, Kalki 2898 AD has once again increased. While the team and director of Vyjayanthi Movies have kept a low profile about the project starring actors Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan, insiders have been dropping various hints online. A production representative has now finally clarified whether actress Sai Pallavi will replace Deepika Padukone in the film SUM-80.
The representative has denied that Sai has been finalized by Nag and the shooting will resume soon. “Nothing has been finalized yet. But yes, after Deepika’s exit the makers are looking at Sai to play the character of SUM-80. They feel she would be perfect for the role. These are all just rumors as nothing has been finalized yet. Please wait for the official confirmation.” Hindustan Times.
New talks have started on Deepika’s exit from Kalki 2898 AD sequel after her exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit in September 2025. Reports indicate that despite filming for around 20 days, the actor moved on after negotiations for a salary hike failed.
Kalki is a pregnant laboratory subject of the SUM-80 or Sumati Project in 2898 AD and the predicted mother of Kalki. Actress Shobhita Dhulipala dubbed for Deepika in the Telugu version of the film. After SUM-80 escapes from Kamal Haasan’s Supreme Yaskin’s laboratory, she comes into the care of Amitabh Bachchan’s Ashwatthama.
Talking about work front, Deepika will be next seen in Atlee. AA22XA6Which includes actor Allu Arjun. This will be Atlee and Deepika’s second collaboration after Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan (2023).
Sai will be next seen in director Nitish Tiwari’s epic film RamayanaIn which she plays the role of Goddess Sita. In the film, Ranbir Kapoor plays the role of Lord Ram, Ravi Dubey plays the role of Laxman, Yash plays the role of Ravana and Sunny Deol plays the role of Lord Hanuman.
Ramayan is set for theatrical release in Diwali 2026.
