Actor Chris Pine recently addressed the news of The Princess Diaries sequel being in development. During Jimmy Fallon’s appearance The Tonight ShowPine stated that he was unaware of any plans for an upcoming film. He also discussed his character Nicholas in the previous installment.

During his recent appearance (8 October) The Tonight ShowChris Pine discusses the announcement of The Princess Diaries 3, which stars Anne Hathaway in the lead role. “It’s been 20 years,” he said. Its been a long time. I can’t believe it’s been so long. But probably more people came up to me about it than anything else I’ve ever done. And I am very happy. It was an incredible experience.”

Addressing news of a sequel to the film, he said, “I first heard about it on the internet when someone sent me a screenshot.” Responding to Anne Hathaway’s Instagram post that teased the sequel, Chris continued, “She was relaxing in a beautiful garden with her glasses on.”

She joked about her ‘big hair’ in reference to her character in The Princess Diaries.

Chris Pine also attended Today with Hoda and Jennaadding to the report for the next installment of The Princess Diaries, adding, “I don’t know anything. Call Disney. Call (Disney CEO) Bob Iger. I got to see the answer to this. I don’t know anything about it. I think it’s fantastic.”

On October 4, franchise lead actor Anne Hathaway, who played Mia Thermopolis, confirmed The Princess Diaries 3. Adele Lim, best known for Crazy Rich Asians, will direct this installment.
