Writer and late actor Irrfan Khan’s wife Sutapa Sikdar has spoken openly about the immense pressure she is facing after her son Babil Khan’s entry into Bollywood. During a recent visit to Lucknow, he revealed that the young actor is under a lot of stress, which has brought him close to depression.
,There is a lot of pressure on Babil and I don’t like it! There should not be this pressure, Irfan never had that pressure and when you do not put any pressure on yourself, your personality comes to the fore. It’s not just about work, but also about losing father status, almost depression! (Babil is under a lot of pressure, and I don’t think it’s right. Irfan has never faced this kind of pressure, and when you let go of that burden, your personality shines through. It’s just It’s not about work. Babil has also lost his father, which has almost driven him into depression),” Sikdar said.
He said the pressure comes not only from his budding career, but also from the emotional burden of losing his father, who died in 2020. “Babil is very weak and doesn’t have the fighting spirit like his father or me. Comparisons are inevitable, but I hope he gets over it soon,” she commented.
Comparing the struggle of Abhishek Bachchan’s career in the shadow of Amitabh Bachchan’s legacy, Sikdar said that Babil also faces a similar challenge. “Like, Abhishek Bachchan did an amazing job in I Want to Talk but that’s it…comparisons with the great Amitabh Bachchan work against him. I think Babylon is also going through a similar ordeal. I just hope he gets over it soon.”
Babil Khan made his acting debut with Kaala (2022) and was also seen in The Railway Men alongside KK Menon, R Madhavan and Divyendu.
