iPhone 18 Pro display details leak hints at Apple’s major Dynamic Island surprise
It is being told that Apple has been working on the iPhone 18 series for some time. According to the leak, following the design changes of the iPhone 17 Pro last year, the Cupertino giant will likely bring a massive upgrade on the front of the iPhone 18 Pro models. Here are all the details.
Apple brought a significant design change to the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max last year. However, the display remained relatively the same as on older models, including the dynamic island. Now, leaks indicate that the Cupertino giant is finally preparing for a major display overhaul that may include removing the pill-shaped cutout on the iPhone 18 Pro models.
Apple is planning a big upgrade for the iPhone 18 Pro display
Tipster Digital Chat Station has shared a post on Chinese social media platform Weibo, detailing the expected displays for the iPhone 18 series, including the iPhone Air 2. According to the leak, both the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are likely to get new displays. The iPhone 18 Pro is likely to get a 6.27-inch OLED panel, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max will get a 6.86-inch OLED panel. Both will likely be LTPO displays that can go from 120Hz to 1Hz.
The interesting thing here is that Apple cannot maintain dynamic islands. According to the leak, Apple is expected to move the Face ID sensor below the display, with only a punch hole for the front camera. This may make the display feel smoother than previous Pro models. Apple introduced Dynamic Island on iPhone 14 Pro in 2022.
Dynamic Island will remain intact on the rest of the iPhone 18 series
While Apple plans to get rid of the Dynamic Island on the Pro models, the base iPhone 18 and the next-generation iPhone Air will likely continue with the same display.
The sample production phase for the iPhone 18 lineup and iPhone Air 2 has reportedly begun, suggesting that these changes are moving toward mass production. The iPhone 18 is said to have a 6.27-inch 120Hz LTPO display, while the iPhone Air 2 will reportedly come with a 6.55-inch 120Hz LTPO panel.
iPhone 18 Pro launch and expected price
Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 18 Pro model along with the iPhone Fold in September this year. While the base iPhone 18, iPhone Air 2 and iPhone 18e will likely be released in early 2027.
The price of the iPhone 18 Pro model is not clear yet. For reference, the iPhone 17 Pro was launched in India for Rs 1,34,900, with the iPhone 17 Pro Max starting at Rs 1,49,900.
iPhone 20 could go even further
Reports indicate that the new display of the iPhone 18 Pro could be a precursor to the 20th anniversary iPhone, which could be codenamed iPhone 20. Rumors have surfaced that the iPhone 20 may get a seamless display without any hole for the front camera.
