iPhone 18 leak hints at big changes: display upgrade, RAM boost and more incoming
There are rumors regarding the iPhone 18 series. New leaks indicate that the iPhone 18 Pro may be getting a major display upgrade, not just limited to the Dynamic Island. On the other hand, the vanilla iPhone 18 may get a RAM boost.

There are still a few months left for the launch of the next generation iPhones. But that hasn’t stopped rumors from surfacing online. The latest leaks indicate major upgrades for the iPhone 18 Pro models as well as the vanilla iPhone 18. While we’ve already seen reports about a major change to the iPhone 18 Pro’s display, things may be going a step further.
LTPO Plus display can be found in iPhone 18 Pro
According to Korean outlet ET News, new LTPO Plus AMOLED displays may be found in the iPhone 18 Pro models. The display will reportedly improve battery efficiency compared to the LTPO screen used in the iPhone 17 Pro. The LTPO panel is a high refresh rate display that can drop down to 1Hz to save battery.
Previous reports have indicated that Apple will likely drop Dynamic Island for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Instead, both devices may pack a punch hole at the top left of the screen, with the Face ID sensor rotating below the display. This upgrade could be a precursor to the 20th anniversary iPhone, which is likely to get a bezel-less display.
However, the base iPhone 18 and the next-generation iPhone Air are expected to retain the dynamic island.
iPhone 18 set for more RAM
Apple does not officially disclose the RAM used for iPhones. However, the certification listing shows that the base iPhone 17 had 8GB of RAM compared to the 12GB RAM used in the Pro model and iPhone Air.
Now, it appears that even the base iPhone 18 will get 12GB of RAM, bringing it on par with its more expensive counterparts. With the rumored A20 chipset, users can expect a significant jump in performance compared to the iPhone 17.
iPhone 18 series, here’s what we know
The iPhone 18 Pro models are expected to get new colors. After the vibrant Cosmic Orange in the iPhone 17 Pro, Apple is said to be testing colors like purple and burgundy for the new Pro models. The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are also likely to get a unified rear look instead of the two-tone design of their predecessors.
While the base iPhone 18 is likely to use the A20 chipset, the iPhone 18 Pro models are expected to pack the A20 Pro SoC. According to the report, this chipset may be based on 2nm process, which will result in improved performance and efficiency.
iPhone 18 series launch and expected price
Apple is expected to take a different approach to the launch of the iPhone 18 series. iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Fold are likely to launch in September 2026. On the other hand, the base iPhone 18 along with the iPhone 18e and the next-generation iPhone Air are expected to be released in early 2027.
However, we do not yet have the official price of the iPhone 18 series. Its price may be similar to the iPhone 17 series. The base iPhone 17 was launched in India for Rs 82,900, while the iPhone Air was priced at Rs 1,19,900. iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are priced at Rs 1,34,900 and Rs 1,49,900 respectively.
