Hours ahead of Apple’s event tonight, new details about the iPhone 16 Pro’s price have emerged, courtesy of Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. According to Gurman, Apple may maintain the iPhone 16 Pro’s starting price at $999, putting an end to earlier rumors of a price hike for the entry-level Pro model.
Gurman also hinted at other notable improvements in the iPhone 16 Pro lineup, including thinner bezels, better battery life, and touch-sensitive camera buttons across models. The main focus is expected to be on AI capabilities and the new A18 chip, which will power the entire iPhone 16 series.
However, a previous leak by Apple Hub suggested a possible price hike for the Pro models, with the iPhone 16 Pro 256GB variant likely starting at $1,099 (roughly Rs. 92,300). The iPhone 16 Pro Max could be priced starting at $1,199 (roughly Rs. 1,00,700).
In the US market, the base iPhone 16 could start at $799 (roughly Rs. 67,100), while the iPhone 16 Plus could be priced at $899 (roughly Rs. 75,500). However, Indian consumers should expect higher prices due to import duties and taxes.
To recall, the iPhone 15 series was launched in India with the iPhone 15 Pro priced at Rs 1,34,900 and the iPhone 15 Pro Max starting at Rs 1,59,900. The base model of the iPhone 15 was available at Rs 79,900, while the Plus variant was priced at Rs 89,900. If we go by the latest leaks, the iPhone 16 Pro could be priced at Rs 1,34,900 in India if the company decides to introduce the new version at the price of the iPhone 15 Pro. The fact that they haven’t mentioned the Pro Max model suggests that the company might increase the price of this variant, but nothing has been officially confirmed yet.
As Apple prepares to officially introduce the iPhone 16 series tonight, it remains to be seen how accurate these leaks are, and what surprises the tech giant has in store for its fans. You can stay tuned to India Today Tech for all the updates.
