iPhone 16 launch event is called Glowtime but what does it mean, what is the secret message?

Until a few years ago, Apple used to hide a lot in creative names for its product launch events. Now, the names have become more obscure and less intriguing. But tonight when Apple holds its iPhone 16 launch event – it starts at 10.30 pm India time – remember what Apple has called this special event. It’s called “Glowtime”.
And as always, the picture given along with the name and launch event gives some hints.
While it is certain that Apple will launch the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro tonight, as well as the new Apple Watch Series 10 – or Watch X as it will be called – the main attraction of this event will not be hardware but software. And it is software that the name Glowtime for the event is pointing to.

The name Glowtime is not that important here. Instead, the real thing is the holographic and colorful Apple logo. The colors depicted here are likely to be the signature colors of Apple Intelligence, the AI system that Apple is going to introduce in the iPhone 16 phones. In fact, if you already use Apple devices, you will recognize that the same colors also appear in the animated glow that appears on the screen whenever you use Siri. They are Siri colors so much so that the transparent top panel of the Apple HomePod speaker also glows with them when you use Siri.
In a way, Apple is going to supercharge Siri with generative AI capabilities. The “Glowtime” image simply points to the shift that Siri is going to make from a less smart virtual assistant to a more useful AI agent.
Smartphone companies are increasingly adding AI features to their phones. Recently, Google has launched Pixel 9 phones in India. In these phones, AI features powered by Google Gemini are a core part of the user experience. At the same time, Samsung and other companies have also implemented many AI features in their latest phones, including features like writing emails or creating images with prompts.
Apple is going to join this list by launching the new iPhone 16 phones tonight. Earlier in June at WWDC, the company’s developer conference, Apple had announced Apple Intelligence – a number of generative AI features that will be part of iOS. Some of these features have already been tested by Apple as part of the iOS 18 beta and tonight the company is set to showcase them as a key part of the new iPhone 16 phones.
