Apple announced the iPados 26 in WWDC 25 today, which brings significant improvements in multitasking abilities, visual design and AI capabilities.
Let us start with multitasking abilities, which have got a significant boost with this release. The iPados 26 has greatly improved the app window management, which allows users to open several apps at the same time. Apps can be minimized, shaped and tile and OS can arrange them with the same flicks.
Exposure from iPados 26 Macos, so that you can quickly see all your open windows extending on a screen. And with the stage manager, you can meet the windows in different stages, which can also be divided into internal and external displays.
Another major MACOS facility is being borrowed menu bar. Apps can now have a menu bar at the top, which can be enabled with a simple swipe down or by moving the mouse pointer to the top. This shows a full menu bar, as if you will look at Mac, and developers can also adapt it to their app. You can also give Macos-style closed, minimal, and size of controls in the corner.
The preview app from Mac also creates an appearance on the iPad with iPados 26. Now you can open all your images within this app, while PDF can be able to open and edit the files. It can even be used to draw and write by using Apple Pencils.
Further multitasking capabilities are updated to supplement background functions. Now, apps that produce a long -running process, such as exporting video or uploading a large file can appear in live activities, so that you can monitor them while doing other tasks. Developers will have access to updated background functions API to avail their apps to their apps.
The file app also gets an overhaul on iPados 26. It has a new UI with an updated list scene that shows more files on the screen at a time with additional information. Folders can be adapted with custom colors, icons and emoji to make them more recognizable. In addition, the files can be taken out of any folder on the dock for easy access.
Other new features include being able to choose separate microphones for each app or individual websites. Voice isolation removes ambient noise from recorded audio and people with selected airpods models will also get ‘studio-quality’ recording. The local captain lets you capture the high-quality recording of audio and video from any video conferencing app, so that you can save or share these recording later.
Finally, like other platforms of Apple, iPados 26 is getting a new new coat of paint with liquid glass. It re -designs several UI elements with a new transported material layer that responds to the content below it. The iPados 26 is improved in AI capabilities with new apple intelligence features, such as live translations, facetime and messages in the phone. You also get updated shortcut features with more powerful options that allow you to summarize the text and create images.
The iPados 26 will be available today as a developer beta and the next month as a public beta.
