Apple has officially started rolling out iOS 18.2 for iPhones, iPads, and Macs, introducing a new set of features. This update includes the second phase of Apple Intelligence, which brings advanced AI tools to a wider audience. One of the main highlights is the new Visual Intelligence feature, which is designed to improve users’ experience with the device. The new update is being rolled out for the iPhone 16 series and other eligible smartphones. Here’s everything you need to know.
In a significant move, Apple has expanded AI functionalities to users in regions such as the UK, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia, eliminating the need to switch to US English to access these tools. Although Apple Intelligence is currently only available for the iPhone 15 Pro, Pro Max, and iPhone 16 series, the iOS 18.2 update offers something for all users.
Among the new features is an upgrade to the Find My app, which now allows sharing of AirTag locations with trusted contacts. Additionally, the Photos app has been redesigned to enable fullscreen video playback, providing a more immersive experience.
One of the standout AI features is Image Playground, which lets users create personalized images using themes, accessories, and even photos of family and friends. Another feature, Genmoji, allows users to create customized emojis based on simple text descriptions, with options for further personalization.
iOS 18.2 also brings improvements to the writing tools with the addition of a “Describe your change” option, giving users more flexibility in enhancing their writing style. This tool can help users adjust the tone or wording of their text, whether they’re refining a resume or crafting a creative invitation. Additionally, ChatGPT’s integration with Siri adds a new layer of AI support. Siri can now recommend using ChatGPT for specific tasks, including creating written content or drawing images to help with projects.
