Indira Gandhi did not face any struggle, says Kangana Ranaut
Kangana Ranaut said in a recent interview that Indira Gandhi was from a privileged family and did not have to face struggles. The actress is set to play Indira Gandhi in the upcoming film ‘Emergency’.

Actress-politician Kangana Ranaut is currently promoting her upcoming film ‘Emergency’. Kangana, who plays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the film, said that Indira Gandhi came from a “privileged, nepotistic” background but was determined to prove herself.

Talking about the things she liked about Indira Gandhi, the actress said, “Yes, she was privileged and she came from a nepotistic background. After all, she was the PM’s daughter. She held official positions during her father’s tenure. I mean, what more privilege can one get in politics? She was coming from a privileged place but she had that determination that I have to prove myself. That determination was admirable. She may have had a lot of privileges but whenever she was criticised, she proved herself and she emerged as a complete winner.”

He said, “The negative thing is that a manufactured struggle cannot be real. That was not a good thing. Because when you are in that chair, you have to be selfless. You cannot work from a place of ego.”
In ‘Emergency’, Kangana is playing the role of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. promoting the film The book tells the story of Gandhiji’s reign, focusing on the 21-month Emergency period from 1975 to 1977.
The film also stars Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhry and Milind Soman. Starring Shreyas Talpade and late Satish Kaushik, the film is scheduled to release on September 6.
