Amul’s tribute came in the form of a topical theme featuring a smiling Ashwin holding a sandwich, with a text overlay that read, “India’s leading Mashwinner.” It’s a delightful play on the word “matchwinner”, replacing it with “mash” and cleverly incorporating Ashwin’s nickname “Ash”. Additionally, Amul’s tribute also included Ashwin’s role as an off-spinner. This is not the first time the brand has honored the legendary off-spinner. In March 2024, Amul celebrated R Ashwin’s historic achievement of playing his 100th Test match. The moment became even more special when the then India head coach Rahul Dravid presented Ashwin with the unique cap of 100 Test matches in the presence of his wife and two daughters. Amul captured the moment in its signature style, showing Ashwin receiving a memento with a helmet imprinted with “100” and a roti shaped like the number 100, generously spread with Amul butter.
