‘Indian 2’ box office on day four: Kamal Haasan-Shankar’s film sees huge drop in collections

While it is normal for any film to see a drop in collections on the first Monday, it remains to be seen if ‘Indian 2’ manages to pick up the pace in its second weekend. The sequel has been receiving negative reviews from all quarters ever since the film hit the theatres.
‘Indian 2’ released in theatres on July 12 and was eagerly awaited by the audience. Despite receiving negative reviews, the film has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark worldwide and is now heading towards the Rs 150 crore mark.
The sequel earned double digit collections in its first three days in cinemas in India. However, on Monday, July 15, the film’s collections took a massive drop and it grossed Rs 3.15 crore, its lowest ever. This is a drop of almost Rs 12 crore compared to the third day.
The total collection of ‘Indian 2’ after four days now stands at Rs 62.3 crore in India. The film is still a long way off from earning Rs 100 crore in the country and it could be a really tough road.

Looking at the box office trends, the majority of the earnings are coming from the Tamil version of ‘Indian 2’ while ‘Bharatheyudu 2’ (Telugu) and ‘Hindustani 2’ (Hindi) are receiving a lukewarm response across the country.
The total occupancy of ‘Indian 2’ on July 15 was recorded at 16.04 percent.
Kamal Haasan and director Shankar’s stardom brought people to the theatres during the opening weekend of ‘Indian 2’. Now, the film has to hold on throughout the weekend to gross Rs 150 crore worldwide.
Directed by Shankar, ‘Indian 2’ stars Kamal Haasan, Siddharth, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Rakul Preet Singh, Nedumudi Venu, Vivek, Bobby Simha and many others. Jointly produced by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies, the film has music by Anirudh Ravichander.
