Qatar and India today agreed to elevate their relations for a strategic partnership and an agreement in this regard was exchanged between the two countries. The decision was announced after a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani’s Amir in New Delhi.
The two leaders held extensive bilateral talks at Hyderabad House in New Delhi. The focus of the meeting was to increase business, investment, technology, energy, food security, culture, and people’s relations with people. Both sides discussed the capacity of a free trade agreement and planned to double their business to $ 28 billion within five years.
The Ministry of External Affairs said that during the meeting, energy security was also focused on how to make it wider. Another major area of ​​cooperation that was in talks, finance was, both sides agreed to avoid dual taxation and fiscal theft prevention in relation to taxes on income. An agreement in this regard was exchanged between the two sides.
The Ministry of External Affairs said that apart from bilateral talks, the two leaders also discussed regional and global issues of mutual interest.
