Actor Imran Khan has shared his views on how aging affects the careers of top Bollywood stars, saying even the biggest actors must eventually adapt to the changing expectations of the audience. Reflecting on the long-term dominance of Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan, he said that actors reach a stage where they can no longer continue in traditional hero roles and need to transition into roles to suit their age.
in conversation with news18“You can’t play a lead role after a certain age,” Emraan said.
Elaborating further he explained, “As a leading man, actors also start ageing. There are certain years when you can work as a leading man, and then there comes an age where you are no longer able to play those roles. All three Khans are now in their 60s. They have had 30 years of stardom, which is hard to imagine or parallel. I think part of it is just organic, an essential part of any actor’s journey. is, that as you get older, you start to kind of change the roles you play.”
For more than 30 years, Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan And Aamir Khan has commanded unparalleled star power in Bollywood. However, changes in audience expectations in recent years have made audiences more selective about the content they watch, leading to conversations about how senior stars can evolve over time.
According to Imran, with the change of generations comes change in stardom too. “Your stardom also starts to change because there’s an audience that knows you and grows with you, and then there’s a whole new younger generation that starts to associate themselves with people closer to them in age and experience. When we watch movies or shows, first and foremost we’re trying to see ourselves in those stories and characters. That’s what resonates with you. Instinctively, you connect with someone who is your age and life experiences. The younger generation probably wouldn’t want to see the story of a 70 year old man.
Imran was last seen Happy Patel: Dangerous DetectiveIn which Veer Das, Mithila Palkar, Mona Singh, Sharib Hashmi and others are in lead roles.
