Twenty one collected Rs. It grossed around Rs 4.50 crore on Sunday, taking its four-day extended first weekend to Rs. Takes up to. Approx Rs 17.75 crore nett. These numbers obviously aren’t that bad for the cast involved and the type of film, but the costs are very high, and they required far larger numbers than the film has made so far.
What’s even more worrying is that the film had a mediocre trend throughout the weekend, seeing a big drop on Friday compared to its holiday opening day and then failing to make the expected gains on Saturday and Sunday. This kind of film cannot progress much without the trend in its favor. There will be a decline in business today. The lights will be off for the film after the first week, as most of its performance will be lost to new releases.
Of course, with some outside help the film had a good first day. There was a sense of optimism, as it was a film devoid of commercial elements, hence released with low expectations, but it managed to get an opening. However, the optimism was dashed by a second day of decline. Nevertheless, the expectation was that Saturday would match its opening day numbers, and this would give it a better weekend total, as well as a chance to stay ahead of the weekend. But it was not to be, and that sealed its fate.
The first film of the year did not perform well, but at that time there was a belief in the industry that the first released film of the year does not do well. Of course, this is just a superstition and is not the reason why this film or other films in the past have not been successful. Nevertheless, Twenty One has now joined that list.
The box office collections of Twenty One in India are as follows:
| Day | net |
|---|---|
| Thursday | Rupee. 6.00 crores. |
| Friday | Rupee. 3.00 crores. |
| Saturday | Rupee. 4.25 crores. |
