Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha is all set to make his OTT debut with the upcoming series ‘IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack’. The thrilling series, based on the hijacking of an Indian plane by five Pakistani terrorists in 1999, stars a multi-starrer cast and will premiere on Netflix on August 29.
The teaser begins with Indian passengers preparing to fly from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal to Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. Vijay Verma plays the role of pilot Sharan Dev. Suddenly, five masked terrorists hijack the plane, take it at gunpoint and attack the air hostess, sending everyone on board the plane into a panic.

The teaser also gives a glimpse of other stars like Pankaj Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Manoj Pahwa and Naseeruddin Shah who are playing the role of Indian government officials. The passengers face a big danger as they are taken to Kandahar, Afghanistan, which is under the control of the Taliban.
Meanwhile, it is inspired by a real-life incident where kidnappers 176 passengers of IC-814 flight held hostage for seven days. The plane was flying from Kathmandu to Delhi but was hijacked and taken to Kandahar in Afghanistan. The hijacking operation is said to have been supported by Pakistan’s military intelligence agency ISI.
