‘I was warned about the challenges’: Did you know Masaba Gupta once wanted to ‘freeze her eggs’ and mom Neena changed her mind?

Celebrity fashion designer, actress Masaba Gupta is expecting her first child with her husband, actor Satyadeep Mishra. Masaba often shares glimpses of her pregnancy phase on social media, also flaunting her baby bump. The Masaba Masaba actress recently opened up about her motherhood journey, revealing about freezing her eggs in real life. She discussed the challenges with her mother, veteran actress Neena Gupta, and changed her mind.

In a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Masaba Gupta shared her experience of considering freezing her eggs before getting pregnant with her baby. Masaba revealed that the actress changed her mind when she discussed the procedure with her mother Neena Gupta. Neena told her about the challenges and physical demands involved.

“I was warned about the challenges, including injections and rest periods, so I decided to take a break,” the mum-to-be said.

Masaba said she was planning to revisit the option later, however, the designer discovered her pregnancy unexpectedly.

The portal reported that she felt a lot of pressure from society to find a partner and secure her motherhood future. This happened after Masaba’s divorce from her ex-husband, producer Madhu Mantena. She was also shooting for Masaba Masaba Season 2 at the time.

In an episode of Masaba Masaba, the actress had talked about her plans to freeze her eggs so that she can have children later even without a partner. Remember that?

Talking about the impact it has had on the audience, Masaba revealed that she saw her character talking about it on the show, following which many women were encouraged to freeze their eggs.

In the same interview, the 34-year-old celebrity designer also shed light on how people perceive motherhood. She stressed that people often have a “negative” view of a mother’s life as she is going through a period of change.

Masaba said that giving birth to a child means embracing change in your life and that is the whole purpose of welcoming a child.

Masaba Gupta, daughter of actress Neena Gupta and former West Indies cricketer Vivian Richards, has also appeared in MTV Supermodel of the Year and Modern Love: Mumbai. She is married to Satyadeep in 2023.
