Gypsy Rose Blanchard wants to be an awesome mom!
As someone who didn’t have a healthy maternal influence, the formally incarcerated Blanchard couldn’t hold back tears while talking about motherhood in her pregnancy announcement video. Blanchard – expecting her first child with her boyfriend Ken Urker – wants to be “everything” her mother wasn’t!

Gypsy Rose Blanchard gets emotional talking about becoming a mom
On Tuesday, July 9, the Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup star announced her pregnancy with a video on her YouTube channel. After enduring traumatic medical abuse from her mother, Gypsy planned the murder of Dee Dee Blanchard, which landed her in prison and changed her life forever.
Although Gypsy had forgotten the bitterness of her past and started her new life during her pregnancy, she could not help but remember her experience with her mother. She said, “Everything I wanted from a mother, I want to give it to this child,” and she burst into tears.
“I’m a mother now, I’m happy and I want to be a good mother to my child. I want to be everything that my mother wasn’t,” she said.
Gypsy continued to talk about her and Urker coming from “broken homes” and how that would affect their parenting. “I think we both agreed that neither of us wants our child to be in that situation,” she said.
Even though she doesn’t know what the future holds for her and Urker, she is confident they will face the challenges head on. “Whatever we face, we will face it together. We are a family now,” she said.
Is Gypsy Rose Blanchard ready to be a mom?
The Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup star says she knew people would be concerned about her ability to become a mother after going through so much drama since being released from prison. And of course, there were those in the comments who weren’t on board with her happy announcement.
One user wrote, “This is all moving so fast…” Another commented, “Kane has left before. He will again. A kid never stopped a man… and he left you at the lowest point of your life, serving time in jail.”
Gypsy was aware that there would be a strong reaction to this and spoke about it in her announcement video. “I know there will be people who will feel that I am not ready to be a mother,” she said. “I don’t know if anyone is really ready to be a mother.”
She also revealed that she is 11 weeks into her pregnancy and the baby will arrive in January 2025. She added, “It wasn’t planned at all; it was completely unexpected, but we are both very excited about this new journey of becoming parents.”
