SP Balasubramaniam’s contribution to the Indian music industry is irreplaceable and is revered even today for all the right reasons. Although he is no longer alive, his legacy lives on. Recently, his son SP Charan said that he will not allow artificial intelligence (AI) to be used to replicate his father’s voice in songs and music albums.

Speaking with Vikatan, SP Charan revealed that several composers had sought permission to use his father’s voice generated through artificial intelligence. The artist revealed that he strongly rejected all such requests because he believes that his father was an icon who will always deserve to be in the same place.

SP Charan said, “Many people have contacted me asking for permission to use my father’s voice using AI. I firmly say no. My family and I do not want his voice heard in any Tom, Dick and Harry musical. Even if it is a responsible music director with clarity in thoughts, I say no. He is there. Let him be.”

Moving on, SPB’s son also took a dig at the makers of Rajinikanth’s film Vettaiyaan, who reused the original track of Manasilayo sung by Malaysia Vasudevan through AI and used it in the recently released film.

SP Charan openly condemned such a move and shared that even though the iconic singer’s original song was re-developed using AI, it still lacked the real essence, emotions and originality of the voice. Is.

He said, “You can’t repeat those songs. You can copy the sound, but you can’t copy the feeling that comes from listening to those songs these days.

Well, the song Manasilaiyo from Vettaiyan was originally sung by Malaysia Vasudevan and it was recreated after 27 years by composer Anirudh Ravichander through AI.

The track became an instant hit as Rajinikanth’s moves and fiery energy did complete justice to the banging song. Anirudh also made a special appearance in the song and was seen dancing with the superstar.

For those unaware, SP Balasubramaniam passed away in September 2020 at the age of 74.
