Pregnancy has never been an easy journey for women, and it certainly isn’t as seamless, simple, or aesthetic as social media and advertisements often portray it to be.

It wasn’t easy in the 90s and it’s not easy now either. Whether you’re a regular stay-at-home mom or a celebrity, one of the toughest challenges is often shedding those extra kilos post-delivery.

This was true for actress Demi Moore, who faced her own struggles after the birth of her second daughter, Scout Willis, in 1991. According to Page Six, Moore recalled the intense workout routine she had to follow while living in Malibu with her then-husband, Bruce Willis.

She admitted that her expectations about postpartum recovery were unrealistic. “I put a lot of pressure on myself,” she said in an interview on Sunday.

The actress, who was shooting the film Indecent Proposal shortly after giving birth, recalled that she would cycle 30 minutes to and from work every day. She also revealed that she would breastfeed her baby overnight, wake up in the dark to train with a personal coach, and then cycle to Paramount — even when they were shooting on location. After that, she would work all day, which usually meant 12 hours on set, according to Page Six.

Moore also admitted that it was perhaps the embarrassment of being told to lose weight after giving birth that made her subject her body to such intense scrutiny – which she now feels is unnecessary.

The actress said, “The idea of what I did to my body is so crazy and ridiculous.” However, at that time in the 90s, she was an actress who was at the peak of her career and getting back in shape was what mattered most to her.

The Emmy Award-nominated actress gave birth to three daughters in her 13-year marriage to Bruce, 69. Rumer was born in 1988, followed by Scout in 1991 and Tallulah in 1994.

Moore and her ex-husband Bruce Willis separated in the early 2000s when Bruce was battling frontotemporal dementia, however, the entire family spent a lot of time together and still have a harmonious and healthy relationship with each other today.
