I feel lucky on Google? AI can replace the iconic button

Listen to the story

Time is unlikely. Bob Dylan’s words are equally understood today, as he did in 1964. We do not believe? Well, Google just indicated that the iconic “I feel lucky” button may be on its way. This is a change, and it is a large that we can add because it is actually chronic as Google (search). The other is that it can be replaced by an AI – signs of (changing) time.
Google is adding AI to search for some time. AI overview is a good example. Now, at least one more large-tick AI facility is in work. This is called AI mode. It was declared in early May and while reviewing it is too early how it works, you can compare it a search experience operated by AI. The idea of a chatbot within the search is not new. Google, in fact, is a catch up with Openai and Perplexity, but it is for another piece. We will also reach there. Here, the emphasis is AI mode and how – and if – it will change the “I feel lucky” button.
When you think about a new button in search, obviously the first question that comes to mind is that where will Google keep it? Now we have the answer. We all know that Google has started testing AI mode with selected users in the US. The same users are now reported what they see, and it gives us a thick estimate about where AI mode can eventually fit. To be clear, the AI mode is currently part of the experimental laboratories of Google, which is only available to some users, like a beta tester for software.
Within this “controlled” environment, Google keeps changing things because it goes to make it better and more comfortable – simply – if everything goes well, we can see a wide release, which is when everyone will be able to use it. But when it comes, it will come. For now, users who have access to search with some reporting are taking AI mode in search that the new button is taking to a long -held spot organized by the “I am feeling lucky” button under the search bar. Of course, this is just one – in many places they can see it, but it can be a good picture that may be. There is no confirmation yet that the “I feel lucky” will be permanently removed.
Google and AI seem to be inseparable at this point. The company that has traditionally chosen to make a minimum noise around AI, is now running to launch and launch products and features at the bid for one-up openi and other contestants, which are outsporting it at many levels, especially when it comes to Go-to Market Frequency. Google is allegedly set for I/O 2025 jam-packs with AI announcements. We can get to hear more about it on May 20, 2025. See this place more.
